Mozy makes remote file access simple for home and business users
London - 26 July 2011 – Mozy®, the industry-leading online backup service from EMC Corporation (NYSE: EMC), has today launched new features for mobile access for customers in the UK, as well as announcing upcoming improvements to its web access experience and Mozy restore functionality. As the result of a major upgrade to its European platform, MozyHome® and MozyPro® customers will now be able to easily and securely access their backed-up data from iOS, Android or internet-enabled devices, from anywhere.
"Mozy is going to give you access to your files wherever you are, whenever you like, on your terms," said Russ Stockdale, General Manager of Mozy. "Our customers want the data they’re protecting with Mozy to work harder for them, so we will be enabling secure access to that information on demand, via mobile phones, tablets and our new, richer, web-access experience."
The new Mozy functionality includes:
- An Enhanced Web Access Experience via Mozy.co.uk
Users will be able to securely log in to mozy.co.ukfrom any device with web access to preview and download files.
- Mobile apps for Android and iOS (iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch)
Users can securely access their backed-up files directly from their mobile devices, with support for photo previewing, file download and file sharing.
- Enhanced Restore Functionality
Users will be able to access more powerful searching, one-click download, 30-day-version viewing, and consolidated file transfer, for faster restores.
Stockdale continued: "The methods for creating, storing, and accessing data has changed dramatically over the past five years. People now regularly shift from one device to another; from a PC to an iPad in the home or from a laptop to a smartphone in the office, for example. They want to protect that data and to be able to get at it wherever they are. Our users want access to their Mozy-protected data from a variety of devices and platforms, and we’re listening."
Mozy also recently launched the beta trial of its synchronisation functionality, which it expects to make available to Mozy customers soon.
"But with all the new features, Mozy’s first priority is protecting your data," Stockdale said. "We continue to apply our premium levels of security to the data our customers trust us with. And, for those organisations that want to regulate the accessibility of information outside of the workplace, Mozy places control of these new functions in the hands of the Administrator."
