Oram & Kaylor Strategic Asset Management of Mammoth Lakes, CA is a financial advisory firm serving individual and institutional clients. The partners, who work from separate offices and travel extensively, standardized on Mozy in 2010. Previously, some data was stored on external disks which were then moved offsite, but the time and expense required by this process motivated a change. In addition, the partners were moving to a fully "paperless office", creating more urgency to have reliable and available backup of critical business data. In April 2011, Oram & Kaylor suffered what could have been a devastating one-two punch to critical business systems. A particularly insidious virus compromised its systems and made many files inaccessible, while a severe storm brought power outages that caused hardware damage to some of Oram's computers.
